Entering The Quiet
Our journey through the Ascension Chakras now takes us beyond the familiar seven-chakra system and into a new territory: the trans-personal chakras.
The first of these is the Causal Chakra, a subtle energy centre situated above and slightly behind the Crown Chakra. It marks an important transition in our spiritual development, because here our attention begins to move beyond the personality and the physical experience of being human.
The Causal Chakra is sometimes described as a gateway into a profound state of inner stillness — a place I like to call The Quiet.
In 2012 and Beyond, Diana Cooper describes this chakra beautifully:
This pure white chakra above and slightly behind the crown is where you enter the silence. Archangel Christiel looks after it, when it is open and receptive beings of the higher spiritual realms drop their guidance and seeds of wisdom into your consciousness.
There is something wonderfully evocative about that description.
We are no longer simply reaching upwards towards higher consciousness. We are beginning to step beyond the personal and enter a space where there is less need for noise, explanation and constant seeking.
Where Is the Causal Chakra?
The Causal Chakra is located above and slightly behind the Crown Chakra.
Unlike the Base, Sacral, Navel, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown Chakras, the Causal Chakra is not located within the physical body itself.
This is what makes it a trans-personal chakra.
The word trans-personal can be understood quite simply as meaning beyond the personal. Rather than being primarily concerned with our individual identity, emotions, experiences or physical existence, these higher centres relate to our connection with consciousness beyond the individual self.
The Causal Chakra is therefore the first step into this expanded territory.
The Pure White Light of The Quiet
The Causal Chakra is described as pure white.
White light has already appeared in our journey through the Heart Chakra, where it represents pure love and connection with the Cosmic Heart. At the Causal Chakra, however, the quality of white light takes us somewhere different.
Here, white becomes associated with silence, purity and receptive awareness.
The Causal Chakra isn’t necessarily about doing more, learning more or seeking more spiritual experiences.
Instead, it invites us to become quiet enough to receive.
And that can be surprisingly difficult.
We live in a world filled with information, opinions, notifications, noise and constant stimulation. Even our spiritual lives can sometimes become busy: meditating, reading, learning, attending workshops, looking for signs and asking for guidance.
The Causal Chakra offers another possibility.
Stop.
Become still.
Listen.
Enter The Quiet.
What Is The Quiet?
The Quiet is not simply the absence of sound.
It is an inner stillness — a space where the constant chatter of the personality begins to settle and we become receptive to something deeper.
We don’t necessarily need to fill this space with visualisations, affirmations or questions.
Sometimes there is wisdom in simply being present.
According to Diana Cooper’s description, when the Causal Chakra is open and receptive, beings of the higher spiritual realms can place guidance and what she calls “seeds of wisdom” into our consciousness.
I love that expression because a seed doesn’t demand immediate results.
It is planted.
It rests.
And, in its own time, it may begin to grow.
Some spiritual insights work in exactly this way. We may receive an understanding that doesn’t make complete sense immediately, only to discover weeks, months or even years later that something has quietly shifted within us.
The Quiet gives wisdom room to germinate.
Archangel Christiel and the Causal Chakra
The Causal Chakra is held in the care of Archangel Christiel.
This is another significant transition in the Ascension Chakra journey.
With the lower chakras, we have worked with archangelic energies connected with qualities such as grounding, love, truth, healing and spiritual vision. At the Causal Chakra, the emphasis moves towards receptivity to higher spiritual guidance.
Christiel’s presence can be contemplated as an invitation to become quiet, open and receptive.
Rather than demanding answers, we learn to listen.
Rather than attempting to control the spiritual journey, we allow ourselves to receive.
And rather than expecting every insight to arrive fully formed, we become comfortable with allowing wisdom to unfold in its own time.
The Spiritual Connection of the Causal Chakra
Diana Cooper associates the Causal Chakra with Tibet as its planetary location and with the spiritual aspect of Sirius as its Galactic Connection.
Tibet has long been associated in the collective imagination with contemplation, spiritual practice and the search for inner wisdom. Within the framework of the Ascension Chakras, this correspondence offers a beautiful symbolic resonance with the Causal Chakra’s invitation to move into stillness and deeper awareness.
The connection with the spiritual aspect of Sirius takes us further beyond the familiar human experience and into the cosmic dimensions of the Ascension Chakra system.
For those drawn to this particular system of spiritual development, these correspondences provide another layer of meaning to explore.
Signs That You Are Becoming More Receptive
The awakening of the Causal Chakra may not necessarily feel dramatic.
In fact, some of its qualities may be remarkably subtle.
You might notice:
✨ A growing appreciation for silence and stillness
✨ Less need to constantly seek external answers
✨ Moments of profound inner peace
✨ Spiritual insights arriving unexpectedly
✨ A sense that certain ideas or understandings are quietly “dropping in”
✨ Greater trust in your own spiritual discernment
✨ A feeling of being guided without needing to know exactly where the journey is leading
Perhaps the most interesting sign is a changing relationship with silence itself.
Instead of feeling that silence needs to be filled, you may begin to experience it as a place of nourishment.
A Gentle Invitation Into The Quiet
For a few moments, allow yourself to become completely still.
Begin to imagine how your consciousness fills your body like water.
Now, imagine that water being slowly and steadily sucked up and out through the crown of your head.
Until all of your consciousness has exited through the Crown and into the Causal Chakra.
Your awareness now sits in the space above and slightly behind your Crown Chakra.
Imagine a pure white light gently illuminating this area.
There is nothing you need to ask for.
Nothing you need to solve.
Simply allow yourself to rest in the stillness.
And if a thought, feeling, image or insight arises, notice it without immediately trying to analyse it.
Perhaps the only question you need to hold is:
“What becomes possible when I allow myself to be truly quiet?”
Then simply listen.
From the Crown Into The Trans-Personal Chakras
The Crown Chakra marked an important stage in our journey: moving from simply receiving spiritual guidance towards becoming spiritually mature enough to embody and share the wisdom we have gathered.
The Causal Chakra takes that journey one step further.
Here, we begin to move beyond the personal self.
The Crown opens us to higher consciousness; the Causal invites us into The Quiet, where we can become receptive to wisdom that does not necessarily originate from our ordinary conscious mind.
This is the beginning of a different kind of journey.
The journey isn’t necessarily about becoming more.
It is about becoming quieter, clearer and more receptive.
And from this point onwards, the Ascension Chakras begin to take us into increasingly trans-personal territory.
An Invitation to Go Deeper
The Causal Chakra represents a beautiful threshold in the Ascension Chakra journey.
It invites us to step away from the constant search for answers and discover the wisdom that can emerge through stillness and receptivity.
Perhaps this is one of the great challenges of spiritual growth: learning that we don’t always need to do something.
Sometimes we simply need to become quiet enough to hear.
The deeper activation and balancing of the Ascension Chakras is explored in my Udemy course, where we move beyond the introductory information shared in these articles and explore practical ways of working with these higher-frequency centres.
For now, however, perhaps allow yourself to sit with one simple thought:
The Quiet isn’t empty. It is receptive.
