The Gateway to Grounding and Stability
A deep dive into its location, colour, and function
The chakra system, often described as the body’s energetic map, extends beyond the seven main chakras with which most people are familiar. Those of you who have been following me for a while will know that I refer to the ‘original’ chakras as the Traditional chakra system, while the extended system, consisting of 12 chakras, is known as the Ascension chakras.
Since I have been working with the Ascension chakras extensively, I would like to take a deeper dive into each of these chakras, kicking off with the Earth Star Chakra.
Known as a sub-personal chakra (and among the lesser-known energy centres), the Earth Star Chakra forms a profound anchor for spiritual grounding and connection to the Earth. Allow me to help you connect deeper with this chakra, touching on its location, symbolic colour, and transformative function.
Location of the Earth Star Chakra
The Earth Star Chakra is one of several chakras that are situated outside the body. It is located approximately 30 centimetres (or roughly 12 inches) below the feet and therefore embedded within the Earth itself. Unlike the other chakras, which are aligned along the spine and within the body, the Earth Star Chakra acts as a tether that binds the physical self to the grounding energies of the planet.
This chakra is sometimes regarded as the “super root chakra” because of its profound connection to the Earth’s core. Its placement underscores its role in fostering stability, balance, and an unshakeable connection to the material and spiritual realms.
The Colour of the Earth Star Chakra
Colour plays a significant role in understanding chakras, as each is associated with a specific vibrational frequency. The Earth Star Chakra is traditionally linked to a deep brown or black hue. These colours make sense, since this chakra is connected to the physical soil, minerals, and also to Earth’s foundational energies.
These colours evoke the grounding force of nature, the stability of mountains, and the nurturing aspect of the soil that supports life. Some interpretations also associate this chakra with rich, earthy tones like rust orange or deep red, emphasising its grounding qualities and connection to the root chakra.
One other interpretation of the chakra also includes white with black; sort of like a yin-yang. Continue reading to learn more about this combination.
Visually meditating on these colours can help activate the Earth Star Chakra, aligning one’s energy with the natural rhythms of the Earth.
Function of the Earth Star Chakra
The Earth Star Chakra is often described as the foundation upon which all other chakras rest. Its primary function is grounding – anchoring an individual’s energy and ensuring that the spiritual and physical aspects of existence are harmoniously balanced.
Grounding and Stability:
This chakra serves as an energetic anchor, preventing feelings of detachment or “floating” that can arise from an overactive upper chakra system. By connecting to the Earth Star Chakra, individuals can feel rooted and secure, enabling them to face life’s challenges with courage and resilience.
Connection to the Earth:
The Earth Star Chakra connects individuals to the Earth’s energy grid, facilitating a deeper awareness of environmental consciousness. It is considered the gateway through which one can harmonise with the Earth’s vibrations and align with natural cycles.
Karmic Clearing:
This chakra also plays a role in releasing ancestral and karmic patterns that may impede spiritual growth. By engaging with the Earth Star Chakra, one can let go of inherited energetic baggage, making room for transformative healing and personal evolution.
Sidenote: the Soul Star chakra which is situated above the head, is responsible for processing this karma, while the Earth Star releases this karma after it has been processed.
Facilitating Manifestation:
The Earth Star Chakra is pivotal in grounding intentions and dreams into reality. By anchoring energy within this chakra, individuals can manifest their goals with clarity and purpose, ensuring that their aspirations are supported by a strong foundation.
Seeds of Potential:
All of your potential is held in this chakra. And here I am not just referring to your career and professional ambitions! This relates more to you as a human being, who you are becoming every day. It makes sense then that this chakra would resonate black AND white: seeds need darkness to germinate, but they also need light to inspire them and give them the direction they need for growth.

Activating the Earth Star Chakra requires intentional practices that foster grounding and connection to the Earth. Here are some methods to nurture this powerful energy centre:

Conclusion
The Earth Star Chakra is a vital energy centre that often goes unnoticed in discussions about spiritual wellness. Its location, colour, and multifaceted functions make it an indispensable part of the chakra system, serving as a bridge between the individual and the nurturing energies of the Earth itself.
By cultivating awareness of the Earth Star Chakra and engaging in practices to activate it, one can unlock profound stability, connection, and transformative growth. In a fast-paced world, this chakra serves as a reminder that true strength often lies in our ability to stay grounded and attuned to the rhythms of nature.
