I am going to focus a little on dreams, dream interpretation and the dream world.
I am by no means a dream scientist but I do have some experience and understanding about the world of dreams that could help you with yours.
This all came about when I dreamed of our local library one night. To those of you who don’t know what a library is: it is a place where you can borrow books, for free! I LOVE our library and have probably been through all the craft books at least three times and I keep going back because I feel libraries are life savers.
I digress.
Without going into all the details of my dream, let me just say that I had an odd experience where I remembered the reference number and when I got to our library in the real world, the books with those numbers were simply not there! Either they were the books I was returning (I didn’t check, so I couldn’t know for sure) or somebody had borrowed them already. They were in one of the sections that I frequent, and a quick search for the topic revealed it could have been books I may want to have a look at!
(Just so you know, I mostly take out books in the reference section: crafts, gardening, that sort of thing!)
It got me to pay attention to my dreams a little closer.
Many who know me, know that I journal every morning. Included in my journaling, is my dream recall: I write down as much as I possibly can remember from my dreams.
You would be surprised to know that the more often you do this, the more often you begin to remember more and more of your dreams!
In the beginning, I would only be able to remember a face, a situation or a feeling. But I kept on writing down what I could remember about my dreams, as well as how I felt in and about my dreams. Gradually, day by day, more and more details about my dreams stayed with me and I was able to remember whole stories.
It has now gotten to the point where I am actually dreaming extended scenes from a movie!
Why is this so important, you may ask?
Well, for one thing: our dreams are there to help us sort out our reality. At times they present metaphors to events or problems we may be facing. At other times they predict the kind of day I might have and equip me to deal with obstacles.
Each one of us has been brought up in an environment where we have made connotations to certain things, and we each have our own set of symbols that lie in our subconscious that is unique to our own experience of the world.
For example, if I had to say the word “butterfly” it would have a different meaning or symbolic reference from person to person. We process our worlds differently from each other and our experiences have placed varying significance on specific images depending on our tribal, social and emotional conditioning.
This concept is nothing new, yet people are convinced that a book or another person can interpret their dreams.
Let me break this to you very gently: NO ONE CAN!
We can all help to understand each other’s dreams, and anybody could lend insights. But when it comes to interpreting your dreams you need to take the bladder approach: you have to do it yourself.
Now, don’t think I am being a two-faced hypocrite because I offer dream interpretation as a service! Let me be clear that I will not interpret your dream on your behalf. Instead, I will intuit the necessary questions that will help you find your own answers.
And that is why I am offering you an opportunity to explore your dreams with me!
I will help you to find the not-so-hidden meanings in your own dreams. It really is as easy as 1-2-3, if you know which questions to ask. I will help to open your mind to see your dreams in a new… errm… LIGHT!
And the first question you should ask yourself, is the following:
Do I own a dedicated dream diary or journal?
If the answer is a resounding “NO”, we can safely assume that THAT is your biggest problem currently.
What is your next step?
Book a session with me. Bring your dream journal or diary along, and let me help you delve deeper into the symbolism and metaphors of your psyche.
